You must be a U.S. citizen, meet Texas residency and eligibility requirements, and be at least 18 on Election Day. Texas registration generally must be completed at least 30 days before the election. Restrictions can apply following a felony conviction or a court determination of incapacity.
Moved recently? Check the address on your registration, even if you moved within Harris County. Use the official registrar for the right update process. A printed application may need to be signed and submitted; filling in a form online is not always completed registration.

Texas accepts these photo IDs for voting in person:
- Texas driver license
- Texas election identification certificate
- Texas personal identification card
- Texas handgun license
- U.S. military ID with a photograph
- U.S. citizenship certificate with a photograph
- U.S. passport (book or card)

Ask an election worker about that process or a provisional ballot. A missing photo ID does not automatically mean you cannot vote.

Texas mail voting is limited to eligible voters, including those 65 or older, those with qualifying disability or illness, some voters absent from their county during the voting period, certain voters expecting to give birth, and eligible confined voters. Review the official requirements for your situation.

Return deadlines depend on delivery method and voter circumstances. Follow the instructions in your ballot package and check HarrisVotes for tracking, corrections, and receipt rules.
